 Documents to include with the entry

For the horse:

·         Send a photocopy of horse’s breed registration certificate, showing current ownership.
If horse is being purchased, also send copy of sales contract documenting ownership transfer.

·         Your horses Life or HID number with USEF or USDF, you must include those numbers on the entry form to ensure that your results will be reported properly. Better yet, use the USEF Affiliates Verification Service, www.eqverification.org, to print out legible proof of your horse’s USEF / USDF recording!

For at least one owner (the one who signed the entry):

·         Include a photocopy of owner’s current US Equestrian Federation (USEF) membership card. Better still, use the USEF Affiliates Verification Service, www.eqverification.org, to print out legible proof of USEF / USDF membership for both the owner and the rider!

o    This USEF card must show Dressage, Life, or Platinum endorsement.

o    If owner’s card doesn’t say Dressage Life or Platinum, or if owner is an adult non-member,
a $5 breed fee applies. Juniors are exempt from this $5 breed fee.

o    If owner is a USEF member, but proof can’t be provided by show time, a USEF affidavit of membership costs $5.

o    If owner is not a USEF member, the non-member fee is $20. Adults also pay $5 breed fee.

·         If the owner has a current US Dressage Federation (USDF) membership, include that membership number on the entry form. Again, if you use the USEF Affiliates Verification Service, www.eqverification.org, the printout will show both your USEF and USDF membership numbers.

For every rider, driver and handler listed on the entry:

·         Include a photocopy of current membership card for each person.

·         Include a photocopy of current US Equestrian Federation (USEF) membership card and USDF for each person. Better still, use the USEF Affiliates Verification Service, /www.eqverification.org, to print out legible proof of USEF / USDF membership for both the owner and the rider!

USDF: Effective October 1, 2007:  For each USDF non-member owner/lessee and USDF non-member rider there will be a USDF non-member fee of $20 per competition that must be collected by the show secretary and submitted along with the USDF Report of Fees document.  In addition, a $5 affidavit fee must be collected if the person cannot provide a copy of their USDF NM card. (For persons applying for the first time for a non-member number the $5 affidavit fee is not required.) Owners/lessees or riders exempt from the non-member number requirements are also exempt from paying the USDF non-member fee.

HANDLERS:Please note the following rule change has been approved and is in effect as of March 1, 2005 for USDF-recognized Dressage Sport Horse Breeding divisions and competitions:DR205.  Entries [Chapter DR. Dressage Division. SubChapter DR-2, Dressage Sport Horse Breeding.] Any and all handlers (including Assistant Handlers) of horses in the competition ring are required to sign an entry blank (see GR1502.2) Handlers must be Federation members or pay a non-member fee.  Assistant Handlers need not be Federation members and are exempted from the nonmember fee. All handlers and assistant handlers entering the competition ring must be identified by show management with a wristband or other form of identification to ensure each individual has signed an entry form and/or separate handler/assistant handler release form.  Competition areas must be monitored by ring stewards to ensure that only eligible handlers and assistant handlers are permitted to enter the arena.  Judges must excuse horses with handlers and/or assistant handlers who are not properly identified. For purposes of this rule, a “safety officer” is any individual appointed by competition management to assist in the enforcement of this rule. The Handler release form is available on the Dressage page of the Federation website, www.usef.org.

 

USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT

 

Life, senior active, and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the advanced level, Dressage, Reining, and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides provided the respective breed/discipline dues or breed/discipline category fee has been paid.  A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions, and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $20 nonmember registration fee and a $5 breed/discipline category fee for each breed/discipline.  Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule; 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk/trot and academy classes (Academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA endorsed Reining Competitions; 8) Opportunity Classes.90 citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. 

 

 

General Rules and Information

Opening of Entries: Pre Entries Open July 1, 2008

Closing of PRE Entries: Pre Entries close August 10,2008. Entries are accepted with a late fee charge after postmark of August 11th.

Pre Entry Class Fees - Regular Classes 28.00, Dressage Materiale 30.00,USDF Great American Championships 40.00

 

Post Entries, Substitutions and Transfers: Post entries are accepted up until 2 classes prior to the class being entered .All entries, which are late, will assess a $25 late fee, NO EXCEPTIONS. No refunds will be given if the entry does not use up their transfer credit.

Class Post entries, substitutions, and transfers will be accepted at base cost plus an office charge of $10 per class.

 

Cancellation of entries, payments and refunds: Exhibitors canceling entries after the closing date shall forfeit their entry fees. Make all checks and money orders payable in US funds to: NSBA Show C/O Lisa Gardner, 34214 -56th Avenue South, Roy, WA 98580

Membership Cards: Attention, Competitors Each competitor is responsible for supplying management with correct association numbers
(USDF, USEF, ODS, owner, rider/driver/handler ,trainer, and coach before the day(s) of the competition. The scores ofcompetitors who fail to supply correct numbers may not be counted toward national awards
.

Awards: A first place award and placing to fifth place.

 

Breeders Bonus:

All 2008 foals from the 2007 NSBA Stallion Auction get will be eligible for the breeders bonus program. The top two placed weanlings in the Fillies and the Colts from the 2007 Northwest Sporthorse Breeders Classic Dressage Classes will be awarded cash awards from the 2007 proceeds from Stallion Service Auction. Stabling: Permanent box stalls with Half doors provided. Bedding will be provided. Stalls will be available for occupancy at 1:00 pm on Friday and must be vacated no later than midnight Sunday. Fee for box stalls and tack stalls for the entire show shall be $80.00 each. No refund of stall fees unless requested directly to the show secretary before September 1, 2008. TOP Door Stalls are only available on outside Rows. Any damage to the stalls shall be billed to the exhibitor.

 

Footing: All arenas are sand based. The inside arena is 100 by 200 with a solid wall. Outside warm up is 80 by 100 with a post and rail fence. One additional warm up area is available all sand with a chain link barrier and is 200 by 90.

 

Food: A hospitality area is provided for Exhibitors with a hosted dinner Saturday Evening. A snack bar is open during show hours.

 

Returned Checks: There will be a $30 penalty per check returned by the bank FOR ANY REASON. No checks will be processed through the bank a second time. To retain entries, the fees and penalty must be paid by money order, cashiers check, or cash before 4:00 pm the day before the horse show starts. In event a check is returned after the competition of the show, it will be handled in accordance with USEF Rules.

 

USEF Drug Fee: For every horse participating in any competition recognized by USEF, a $12 fee will be collected ($7shall be a Drug and Medication fee to provide research, inspection, and enforcement of rules regarding use of medications and drugs; see article GR301.6 and GR1401.12 and 5.00 to USEF)

 

Management: Management reserves the right to cancel or combine any classes that do not fill to their satisfaction, except hunter breeding. Show management reserves the right to limit entries, add or divide classes, to add or substitute judges, or to make any other changes required by circumstances to the competition listed herein. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis per USEF. Show management reserves the right to cancel, combine, or amend classes and to refuse or require withdrawal of an entry for cause deemed sufficient by show management. Horses not entered in the show can only be brought to the show at the discretion of show management. Other than at their scheduled times, competitors are only allowed near or in the show arena at the discretion of the show management.

 

Horse Show Office: Show office hours are: Friday  3-7 pm. Stall charts will be posted on the office door for late arrivals. Show office hours Saturday 8:00 and Sunday 7:30 am to close of show. The number to reach the office is 253 846-1610.

 

Trailer and Camper Hook Ups: Hookups are available at $20 per night. There will be a $10 charge per night for trailers and campers that park overnight and do not use hookups. Any trailer parked in a camper hookup area around the barn WILL BE CHARGED a camping fee. You will be issued a camping/parking permit for the duration of the show to be displayed in a visible area on your trailer or camper. If you do not obtain a permit, you will be fined.

 

Haul Ins: There will be a charge of $10 a day for horses not stabled at the show.

 

Attire: All exhibitors/handlers are asked to dress appropriately. Conservative sports attire is recommended.

**International Top Hat- Winner of class 101- 

**High Score Oldenburg-Sponsor ISR/NA OLD-Awarded to the high scoring ISR or Old NA registered horses in the Open In Hand Classes IBC and Group Classes not to count To be eligible for this award the must be registered with the ISR Oldenburg NA registry. Foals, which have no documentation but will be presented in 2007 are eligible.

**Hi Score Dressage Pony- Awarded to the Highest Score earned at the show in the Open Dressage Classes from a Registered Pony Breed or a pony that measures 14.2 and ¾ and under  

 

 

Method of showing Triangle: The triangle will be used for all Dressage Sporthorse In Hand Classes. Horses shall be judged “in hand” and shown on the triangle. Entries in each class shall approach the judge one at a time. Each handler will walk the horse to the apex of the triangle. At the judge’s request, the handler with horse in hand, will perform first at a walk along the perimeter of the smaller triangle, then trot along the perimeter of the lager triangle, ending at the apex of the triangle where the horse is to be set up for the conformation judging. The judge shall view each animal from the front, both sides and from the rear. NOTE: Conformation judging may be done either at the beginning and/or finish at the discretion of the judge. The handler leads from the left (near side) of the horse and moves clockwise around the triangle at both the walk and trot as designated. When all horses have been judged in this manner a select number may be recalled for final comparison and/or tie breaking. Weanlings may NOT be shown loose.

 

Championship Classes: The first and second place ribbon winners are eligible to compete in their respective divisions. Should any first and second place winner in a qualifying class not compete for the Championship or be disqualified for being unsound, unruly, or not performing the class routine in the Championship class, the horse receiving the next highest ribbon in the qualifying class shall have the option of moving up for the Championship and Reserve only.

 

Dressage Sporthorse Division

This is a Qualifying event for the USDFB Breeders Championship 2008 Series. Classes are recognized by the USDF,ODS and NWSBA for annual awards. Membership and horse recording is required prior to entering the class for points to count. Classes conducted according to USEF Chapter II, Rule XIX. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be familiar of these rules. Horses to be judged per article 1936.1. Weanlings may NOT be shown loose with the mare at side. Sporthorses will be evaluated on the yellow USDF Dressage Sporthorse Prospect in Hand and Breeding Stock will be evaluated on the pink USDF Sporthorse Breeding Stock score sheets. If the champion and/or reserve have already qualified to compete in the finals, only the third place horse in the qualifying class will be allowed to compete in their respective finals class at the series. Championship classes will be pinned to third to accommodate. For more information visit the USDF website.

 

Horses named champion and reserve in the classes listed below are eligible to compete in the USDF Series Finals offered at this show.  If the champion and reserve have already qualified to compete in the USDF Series Finals, the third place horse only will be allowed to compete in their respective finals class at the series.
 

Dressage Type Sporthorse, Champion and Reserve Stallions 4 yrs & older Great American Insurance Group/USDF Breeders’ Series Qualifier

In hand classes shall be judged at the walk and trot and standing for conformation. Weakness or confirmation faults with a predisposition to unsoundness or to difficulties in training shall be penalized. A horse shall be disqualified for any unsoundness at the judges discretion. Blemishes are not to count unless resulting from conformation faults. Conformation is to be evaluated in terms of potential trainability, potential performance; function, not fashion, is to be emphasized. Gaits are to evaluated in terms of purity, quality, and correctness. In championship classes the judge(s) may line up the horses in the order of his/her placing with no actual score awarded in that class.

 

Great American Insurance Group/USDF Breeders’ Championship Series

40.00 Entry Fee

Horses must have qualified at this show or at a previous show, which held a qualifying event in this series. In order to compete in the finals a horse must be registered with the USDF and the owner must be a current USDF participating or business member. Verification of membership and the USDF Horse Registration must be provided to the management prior to competing in a series final class. Since a qualifier is held at this show the management must collect USDF Lifetime Registration and/or participating or business membership forms for ineligible entries that wish to participate in the series finals class. In addition to a champion and reserve being awarded in the finals each class will be placed to sixth and finals ribbons awarded. See the USDF qualifier pages included in the prize list for further information.

 

Two judges will officiate. Each judge will evaluate each entry independently, scribes will be provided for each judge. Winners determined by the average score of the judges. The highest scoring horse will be declared the Champion and the second highest Reserve Champion. Scores for the series final will be published separately in addition to the overall average. Horses must be individually shown on the triangle at the walk and trot, and will stand for conformation. Each horse will be evaluated in the same manner. Callbacks are permitted.

 

 

Northwest Breeders  Irish Draught Dressage Championship

Earn 62% in any USEF/USDF recognized Open Competition In Hand Breeders Classes

Place 1-2 in any of the Irish Draft Classes in the NWSHBA Classic or any USDF Breed Class at a show in Oregon or Washington in the current year.

 

Horses must have qualified at this show or at a previous show, which held a qualifying event in this series. In order to compete in the finals a horse must be registered with the USDF and the owner must be a current USDF participating or business member. Verification of membership and the USDF Horse Registration must be provided to the management prior to competing in a series final class.

Dressage Sporthorse Prospect in Hand

Classes shall be judged in hand at the walk and trot, and standing for conformation. Horses will be judged 60% movement, 30% conformation, and 10% general impression including impulsion,

balance, and ratability if under saddle.

               

Dressage Sporthorse Breeding in Hand

Classes shall be judged on 50% movement, 40% conformation, and 10% general impression including masculinity if a stallion, femininity if a mare. Weakness or predisposition to unsoundness shall be penalized, commensurate with the severity.

 

Dressage Materiale Classes-$30.00

The classes shall be judged according to the USEF rule book Article DR133 Materiale Class  and the criteria listed on the USDF Materiale Class.

Individual Breed Classes

For the individual breed classes, horse and owner may need to be registered/member of respective organizations for additional awards. To be judges according to breed standards. Geldings of any age are eligible to compete.

Breed Classes will use the USDF Sport Horse Prospect score sheet

 

Color Class

This class is open to all horses with a recognizable coat pattern. The first place horse to receive a medal sponsored by the International Registry of Colored Sport Horses. Additionally, a special award will be given to the highest scoring IRC registered horse of the class will be awarded.

 

Irish Draught Partbreds

Shall be open to horse that can prove 1/4 parentage

 

Sport Horse Ponies Open to all breeds of Ponies 14.2 ¾ AND Under. Points count to the All Breed Awards.

And go East for 1.1 miles - The Tacoma Unit will be on the right hand side- Turn right down 14th Ave. E. & use the second entrance on the right for the Tacoma Unit

FROM AUBURN/PUYALLUP

- From the North take 167 South- Take HWY 512 West Exit (just past Sumner)
-From Puyallup just take HWY 512 West- Take the Canyon Road/Summit Exit
- Go South (turn left) on Canyon Road E and go about 5 miles
- Turn right on 176th St E. & go West for 2.6 miles- The Tacoma Unit will be on the left side
- Turn left on the 14th Ave. E. For entrance to Tacoma Unit
